“prints”
a series of prints inspired by risograph printing.
1.“WATCH”
Illustrations from my sketchbook composed into a riso style pastel coloured print. The overall theme is “watch”, as coincidentally the figures depicted are all engaing in the act of being watched or watching.
2.”Q & SAL”
Originally an ink and watercolour drawing, this print features two original chracters called Q (left) and Sal (right). It sort of takes on the style of comics / manga with the dramatic angle and striking contrasting colour values. There is a sense of action- further emphasised by the exclamation mark.
3.“HIT”
HIT is an acronym for a kind of fictional technology called “Head in TV”. The purpose it serves is undecided, perhaps a VR style everyday communication device, and it is characterised by large cctv camera-esque headwear worn by the charcters. Sleeker “headset” versions of these devices are shown, they have a more retro tech appearance.
4.“LONG WAY DOWN”
Another comic style dramatic scene. Originally a digital sketch from 2021, it has since been mock riso-fied with sunflower, red and blue inks.
5.“ORDINARY CHAOS”
As suggested by the name this print depicts a mundane living situation disturbed by an inconvenience-to-be. The compostition draws attention to the falling cup in the centre.
6.“THE FLOOR”
A short interpretive comic strip mildly inspired by the tone of film noir and it’s pessimistic grittiness. Features some found patterns and textures that were scanned in and digitally edited.
7. “TODAY...”
Originally a fineliner illustration, this scene represents the optimisim one often has when they wake up in the morning.
8.“GRASP”
A short monologue on the word accompanied by a dramatic illustration. Plays around with depth a little.
